When heat is applied, it shrinks tightly over whatever it is covering. Heat is applied to the film by either a conveyor heat tunnel or with a handheld heat gun (electric or gas), which catalyzes the film to shrink tightly around the item placed within. This process results in a clear, durable barrier of protection around the product.

Shrink hood is used as an overwrap on many types of packaging, including boxes and pallets. It is placed over cardboard boxes of products and as soon as the hoods are welded with hot air, they adapt exactly to the palletized product package and offer effective stability for transport and stocking.
